At this time of the year the climate in Rio de Janeiro is mild to warm. For more information on the local weather forecast, please see www.climatempo.com.br.

For those arriving directly from the International Airport (GIG), we strongly recommend the prepaid airport taxi service offered between customs and the exit hall. The ride to Copacabana costs about US$ 50.

Although November is not exactly a high-season period, we strongly recommend that every participant makes hotel reservations as early as possible since Rio de Janeiro is a very touristic city for any season. All confirmed invited speakers are already booked at Hotel Debret, located at the west end of Copacabana beach.

In the following, we list some reasonable hotels near the conference site:

Hotel Debret, Av. Atlântica 3564, Copacabana, www.hoteldebret.com.br, from R$ 225 +15% taxes
Acapulco Hotel, Rua Gustavo Sampaio 854, Copacabana, www.acapulcohotel.com.br, from R$ 185
Hotel Rio Copa, Av. Princesa Isabel 370, Copacabana, www.riocopa.com, from R$ 225
Hotel Paissandu, Rua Paissandu 23, Flamengo, www.paysanduhotel.com.br, from R$ 139
Hotel Astoria, Rua República do Peru 345, www.astoria.com.br, from R$ 180
(These rates include breakfast)

For groups of students, there are much more inexpensive options:
Botafogo Hostel, Rua Bambina 158 www.botafogohostel.com
Chelagarto, Anita Garibaldi 87 Copacabana www.chelagarto.com/br/
